Free showcase for acoustic music in Athens. Just about everybody plays the Hoot sooner or later - it's outstanding entertainment! (This event was born with the AFMDS in the mid-80's. Ash ran the event for several years way back then. 20+ years later, it's better than ever.)

$6.00 General Public / $4.00 UGA students and AFMDS members
Callers and bands come from throughout the southeast (yes, including Athens GA). Throughout the evening, the caller teaches each dance. Come without a partner if you choose, since country dance etiquette encourages you to dance with a different partner for each set. Like the Hoot, this dance goes all the way back to the founding of AFMDS in the mid '80s. And like the Hoot, it's a LOT of fun. From time to time you'll hear Ash on the bandstand...
